The production of aluminum ingot is composed of bauxite mining, alumina production, aluminum electrolysis and other production links.
First, the bauxite is extracted, and then the aluminum powder is produced by washing, grinding and other processes, and then the alumina is obtained by four complicated processes such as roasting. There are three main types of alumina bauxite: three kinds of bauxite, one kind of diaspore, one kind of diaspore.
Of the proven global reserves of bauxite, 92% is the weathered laterite type bauxite, which belongs to the bauxite type. These bauxite is characterized by low silicon, high iron and high aluminum-silicon ratio, and is concentrated in west Africa, Oceania and Central and South America. The remaining 8% is sedimentary bauxite, which belongs to diaspore and diaspore type, and is of medium and low grade, mainly distributed in Greece, the former Yugoslavia and Hungary.
Due to the different characteristics of the three kinds of bauxite, different production processes have been adopted in the production of alumina enterprises, including bayer process, alkali and lime sintering process and bayer - sintering combined process. Usually high grade bauxite is produced by bayer process, and medium and low grade bauxite is produced by combination or sintering process. Due to its simple process and low energy consumption, The Bayer process has become the main method used in alumina production at present, and its output accounts for about 95% of the total alumina production in the world.
Alumina under the action of strong current, electrolytic aluminum metal, this process is called electrolytic aluminum.
