Xingtai aidu metal materials sales co., LTD shares the production process of aluminum ingots with you:
The production of aluminum ingots is composed of bauxite mining, alumina production, aluminum electrolysis and other production links.
First, bauxite is extracted, and aluminum ore powder is produced by the process of washing and grinding, and then alumina is obtained by four complicated processes such as roasting. Bauxite for alumina production mainly includes three types: sanshui bauxite, monohydrate bauxite and monohydrate bauxite.
Among the proven global reserves of bauxite, 92% are weathered laterite bauxite, which belongs to sanshui bauxite type. These bauxite are characterized by low silicon, high iron and high aluminum-silicon ratio, and are mainly distributed in west Africa, Oceania and central and South America. The remaining 8% is sedimentary bauxite, belonging to monohydralite and monohydralite, with medium and low grade, mainly distributed in Greece, the former Yugoslavia and Hungary.
Due to the different characteristics of the three kinds of bauxite, different alumina production enterprises adopt different production processes, mainly including bayer process, alkali lime sintering process and bayer-sintering combined process. Generally, high grade bauxite is produced by bayer process while middle and low grade bauxite is produced by combination or sintering process. Bayer method, due to its simple process and low energy consumption, has become the most important method used in alumina production at present, accounting for about 95% of the total alumina production in the world.
Alumina in the action of a strong current, electrolysis out of aluminum metal, this process is called electrolytic aluminum.
